The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) on Tuesday announced achieving full availability on major crude oil pipelines. Group CEO Bashir Ojulari shared this during his keynote address at the 24th NOG Energy Week in Abuja.
Ojulari stated that crude oil pipelines in the nation became fully operational in June 2025 for the first time in a long period. He explained that this achievement, facilitated by industry-wide security measures led by NNPCL, contributed to an increase in crude oil production.
He, however, emphasized the need for increased investments to enhance production. He noted that the company has successfully managed to change the narrative by consistently fulfilling its financial commitments to Joint Venture operations.
“The narrative has always been NNPCL not having the ability to pay its cash call. Today the NNPCL is able to raise finance for all its operations,” he said.
Ojulari stated that the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline had successfully crossed the River Niger, with the expectation of completing the project by the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2025. He mentioned that this milestone was achieved through contract reengineering and industry collaboration. He also noted that the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) positions NNPCL to effectively lead the industry in financing projects.
