Failed at Real Madrid, Ancelotti to Coach Brazil

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has agreed to become the new head coach of Brazil’s national team at the end of the season. The 65-year-old will depart from Real Madrid on May 26 to take up his new role, following a season without major titles at Bernabeu. 

  In a statement, the Brazilian FA (CBF) noted the “significant moment of the collaboration between two prominent figures,” referencing their five World Cup victories and Ancelotti’s notable achievements in European football. The international team is seeking their fifth head coach in two-and-a-half years following the dismissal of Dorival Junior at the end of March. 

Ancelotti, taking on his first international role, will lead Brazil as a highly decorated club manager and the only coach to win each of Europe’s top five leagues. 

He will leave the Bernabeu the day after their final LaLiga game against Real Sociedad. 

Since rejoining Real Madrid in 2021, Ancelotti has secured two LaLiga and Champions League doubles. However, after Sunday’s El Clasico loss to Barcelona, it appears unlikely he will win any trophies this season.
